Hands up all those who thought the Head Gardener at Exbury would be a cross between Percy Thrower and Methuselah? – yeah, me too. So what a surprise to find that Thomas Clarke was about the only person in the room without any grey hair. Young Thomas came along with one of his even younger assistants to talk about the joys and challenges of keeping Exbury Gardens at the forefront of horticultural and arboricultural centres in this country and indeed abroad.
